TikTok, the popular destination for short-form mobile video, is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve celebration on its TikTokMENA (@TikTokMENA_LIVE) page this year.

The event will be live streamed on TikTok’s Official MENA Live Account (@TikTokMENA_LIVE) on December 31st at 9.00 p.m. where users are invited to watch an exciting ceremony to ring in the New Year.

With 2020 being an unprecedented year for many people, keeping in mind the safety of the public, TikTok has chosen to keep its celebration virtual this year. TikTok’s event is set to host some of the platform’s top celebrities, creators and Hero Awards to ring in the New Year.

To kick off the night, users can expect stand-up comedy from the region’s favorites like Shadi Alfons, Wonho Chung, and Ali Al Sayed. In addition, those who tune in will also have the chance to hear some of the upcoming TikTok singers from MENA such as Saudi-based Afro singer Timba, Sandra Sahi, and the popular Lebanese DJ, DJ Rodge, among others. Not only will users kick back and listen to music, but other performances like dancing, magic and sports will also be hosted during the night. Those who tune in can see the Burj Khalifa light show exclusively at midnight.

TikTok will also be honoring the region’s top creators with its annual ‘TikTok Hero Awards’, which will be revealed on New Year’s Eve. The Hero Awards is known to be one of the major ceremonies celebrated during New Year’s Eve in order to recognize the best creators on the platform in categories of fashion, music, sports, comedy, education, and  more.

Rami Zeidan, Head of Video and Creative Content at TikTok, said, “2020 was not a year anyone predicted it to be, however we still wanted to continue with our mission to encourage creativity and joy through these uncertain times. Looking back, we’re proud to have provided and diversified our platform within the region and introducing categories like education, sports, fashion and even safety. The #2021MakeAWish event has been designed to not only celebrate the new year and set our sights for 2021, but to also help showcase the efforts of the creators who keep shining with their talents in spite of all the challenges this year brought.”

To end the night, performances from top celebrities from the region such as UAE's sweetheart Balqees, Saif Nabeel, and Mohammed Hamaki will ring in the New Year.
